Memory 001: Starting over again.

Good morning 625 Topper Street! Usually, the house would be filled with the chatter of the drone!kids and the drone!wife as they start the day all fresh and chirpy. However, this time there's something, or rather someone, who's acting out of the "ordinary" for drones. Rather, when the drone!mum pops up to shake her "daughter" awake, all she gets is a sleepy, "Ten more minutes dad, please...?" Drone!mum shakes her head with exasperation, but gives the teenager the extra time she wants.

Tara is in bed less than that though, as her sleepy mind suddenly realizes that something is not right. Her mom isn't home, she's working out of the country. It's dad who usually wakes her up. And he would NEVER give her ten extra minutes.

Action: 625 Topper Street
Hey Sniper, you have a blonde girl dressed in pyjamas trying to sneak to the phone. She's trying to avoid the drone!mum and the kids, but obviously she's no Spy. However, she does look determined, if not nervous, to get to that phone. Care to speak with her and say hi to your new not!daughter?

Action: Topper Street
She's just had a conversation with her new not!dad, but there's still plenty of things she doesn't get. She's taken to wondering the streets outside now, gaping at the perfect houses and trees that line the entire neighborhood.

Action: School
Mayfield High, there's a new kid who's in town. Tara "Mundy" is looking a little lost though, and she has no idea where the classes are, or even which is her locker. She's going around asking people for help. Maybe she's just waved you over then? Or maybe you see her wandering the corridor? Either way, will you help her out?

Action: Town, after school.
The moment the bell goes, she's out of the place immediately to check out the rest of town. Prison or no, she's not one to turn down the opportunity to go exploring. You might see her around as she checks out the place.

Phone, unfiltered
(She was already told that she had been taken from home, that this wasn't even the USA that she had grown up in. Still, she had to at least try. Her fingers nearly slip as she dials in the number.)
...Dad? Are you there?

[She bows and shakes her hand]

I'm Ruri. Hoshino Ruri. English is generally on the first floor opposite of the gym.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
(Oh, she's Japanese? Tara quickly returns the bow, perhaps a bit too low. But her dad always told her to respect other people's opinions and views.)

It's nice to meet you Ruri. Maybe we could walk to English together?

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly. Did you just show up in town?

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, just today. I woke up in a house with a guy who's supposed to be my dad. I've also got a "mom" and a "brother" in there. It's really creepy, because they're always smiling. It's like something out of a movie.

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, there's just one real person in my house too, its been that way for almost a year. I still haven't really gotten used to it, but I've learned how to get them into the attic easy enough.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
...is it normal in this town to lock the not-real people in the basement or the attic? Because that's what the guy I live with does.

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Depends on the person. I don't want to hurt them, but, I'm tired of being told that if I don't smile more I'll never catch a husband. Its rather stupid.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
They do that? But that's totally...I mean, we're not living in the-

-oh. Yeah, that's right. We're stuck in the 50s.

(She sighs and follows after Ruri.)

I hope that the "mom" in my house won't start on me. I get lectured enough back home by my dad already.

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
It was kind of nice having a mother that cared at first but... I think I'd rather have a real person instead of another doll.

[She shakes her head a bit]

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you're right. Is it true then, that they're not real at all? The guy I was living with threw one of them across the room, and he just carried on as if everything was normal.

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
I really don't know. In some ways they're a warning, what happens to us when we stop fighting or actually I'm told go home but as for what they really are. I can't say. I'm sorry.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
So, if you get turned into one of them, you get to go home? How does that work? Are there any bad side effects?

(Yes, she is seriously considering this.)

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes they do it to you temporarily as punishment as well, and there are those who actually believe that its not you getting sent home but something destroying your soul.

I'm not really sure I believe the soul bit, but I don't have any solid data on it either. Its not something that is easily quantified in research.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
W-what!? Your soul!?

(She stares wide-eyed with horror at Ruri.)

That's...that's really bad. What can you get punished for here?

(She's going to try her best to stay out of trouble while at the same time try and figure a way out. A bit of an oxymoron, but she's not going to just give up like that.)

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Breaking the rules of the setting too badly. Generally when the town isn't trying to make us suffer we can do whatever we want, but some people tend to get too destructive so they get droned. Also if you don't go to school every three days they drone you for a day. Other than that I'm still trying to find a pattern but I haven't been able to as of yet.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, so all we've got to do is to be good students? That's something I can do, I guess. Thanks for all your help Ruri, I really needed it.

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't even have to be a good student. You just have to show up every three days or so.

Its okay, I don't have Mr. Rose's information guide like the library does but I try to be a friendly source of information to the new people. Before the wackos start blathering on nonsense and confuse people even more.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
(Tara sighs and rolls her eyes dramatically.)

Tell me about it. The guy I'm staying with is slightly nuts. I don't get half of what he says to me, and he's a sniper in real life! I mean, yeah, he hasn't tried to hurt me or anything, but he's definitely dangerous. He's a crazed gunman!

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Blue or Red sniper then? I've talked with Blue, he seems well sane for a mercenary. I have little knowledge of Red.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a blue AND a red Sniper? Great. Just great.

(Yeap, stuck in a town where everyone's a killer.)

I don't know whether he's blue or red, but he's Australian, if that counts. We're staying at Topper Street. Why are they color-coded anyway?

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
What color were his clothes? Blue tends to wear blue and Red tends to wear red. They're from different mercenary teams or something. I'm not entirely certain about much other than he's from a band of shady mercenaries.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
He wasn't wearing any red, so I'm guessing he's probably blue.

(What Ruri said does give her cause for concern though. She's staying with a mercenary. While Ruri may have deemed him well-sane, she disagrees. No one can be sane and want to teach kids to shoot each other, even if the kids weren't...really there in the first place.)

Hey Ruri, is this town filled with dangerous people?

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

There are sociopaths, homicidal maniacs, depowered superheroes, several super villains, the desperate, the confused and more. That being said there are a lot of good people here too.

[identity profile] forgotten-titan.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Are there any superhero groups here? Back in Jump City, we had the Teen Titans to take care of any bad guys that try to hurt the innocent.

[identity profile] hontobakabaka.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
There was that Batman guy... And some idiot calling himself Booster Gold...

I think that's about it though, that being said, I find the whole super hero concept to be kind of disturbing.
